Malam tadi, saya ke panggung wayang sekali lagi untuk tengok filem Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula. Untuk tontonan kali ke-2 ni, misi saya lain, kali ni saya nak cari kekurangan filem ni pulak. hehehe…

Untuk makluman anda, pada 21 Febuari 2009, saya terkejut kerana filem ini hanya ditayangkan di satu panggung wayang sahaja di Kuching. Sebelum ni filem ni ada ditayangkan di dua panggung wayang iaitu di Star Cineplex dan Metrowealth Cineplex Kuching. Kenapa filem ini dah tak ada di Metrowealth Cineplex Kuching? Lu fikir lah sendiri… haha…

OK lah, kita balik ke topik asal. Setelah memerhatikan filem ini dengan penuh teliti pada malam tadi. Saya telah menjumpai beberapa scene yang ‘agak’ pelik buat saya. Antara yang ‘agak’ ketara bagi saya adalah ketika Oopet hendak mengajak Rajoo, Upin dan Ipin balik dengannya, ketika itu Oopet hanya menarik tangan Rajoo seorang sahaja, Upin dan Ipin seolah-olah tidak dipedulikan. Begitu juga ketika scene Oopet memeluk Rajoo, Upin dan Ipin tidak dipeluk sekali, seolah-olah Upin dan Ipin di anak tirikan… Saya tak tahu kenapa, tapi mungkin sebab watak Upin dan Ipin ditambah kemudian?? hehe… saya agak-agak jer…

Bagi kualiti animasi pula, saya tak nak sentuh, walaupun tidak perfect, tapi saya masih boleh berbangga dengan kemahiran rakyat Malaysia dalam team LCP membuat animasi 3D yang sebaik itu walaupun hanya dibekalkan dengan budget yang kecil berbanding filem animasi luar negara. Saya yakin dengan budget yang lebih dan pengalaman mereka yang semakin banyak, saya dapat bayangkan filem-filem yang lebih bagus akan lahir dari team yang berbakat ini.

Jadi, adakah misi saya tercapai untuk mencari kekurangan filem Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula? Ya. Tetapi semua itu terlalu minor dan boleh dimaafkan kerana kualiti keseluruhan filem ini telah menghiburkan dan memuaskan hati saya serta ramai lagi rakyat Malaysia.

Dengan berani dan bangganya saya ingin mengumumkan bahawa blog TechTarik.net memberikan rating 10 Bintang kepada filem animasi 3D pertama Malaysia iaitu GENG : Pengembaraan Bermula.

Susah saya nak buat review filem ini sebab selepas saya menonton filem ni malam tadi, saya tak dapat cari apakah perkataan yang lebih hebat dari BEST.

Terus terang saya katakan, dah lama sangat saya tidak menonton filem yang sangat kelakar dan menghiburkan dari awal sampai habis seperti filem GENG ini (Memang kelakar tahap kritikal! Percayalah! Bukan macam satu filem tu yang claim lawaknya tahap kritikal, tapi hampeh…). Dapat saya bayangkan, kalau versi Bahasa Inggeris filem ini telah keluar nanti dan filem ini ditayangkan di negara lain, tidak keterlaluan jika saya katakan bahawa Walt Disney dan Hollywood pun akan salute dengan filem 3D pertama Malaysia ini!

Kenapa saya bagi rating sampai 10 Bintang kepada filem GENG?

1. Kualiti animasi 3D yang sangat baik! Jika diberikan budget yang lebih besar, saya percaya tenaga kerja Les’ Copaque boleh menghasilkan animasi 3D yang lebih dahsyat lagi. Hidup local talent!
2. Idea yang segar dan kreatif! Jalan cerita filem ini tersangatlah menarik dan mudah untuk difahami. Anda akan terhibur dari awal sehingga akhir filem. Masa saya menonton kat Metrowealth Riverside Cineplex malam tadi, semua orang dalam cinema hall tu dari budak-budak sampai la makcik-makcik dan pakcik-pakcik gelak bagai nak rak! Bila sampai part sedih, semua orang sedih (Ada la sorang awek yang duduk kat sebelah saya malam tadi keluar air mata masa part sedih tu… huhu… ). Melihatkan fenomena itu, dalam hati saya berkata, akhirnya ada jugak filem yang boleh buat semua bangsa, semua agama dan seluruh masyarakat Malaysia betul-betul terhibur (hasil terjemahan dari bahasa Melayu Sarawak ).
3. Antara watak-watak dalam filem ini adalah kembar kesangan rakyat Malaysia iaitu Upin dan Ipin, Rajoo, Oopet, Badrol, Lim, Ros, Tok Dalang, Mak Uda, Muthu, dan lain-lain. Kesemuanya hebat! Tiada hero atau heroin, tiada watak sampingan, kerana semuanya watak penting.
4. Terdapat scene-scene yang mungkin filem Hollywood tak terfikir nak buat! Anda akan terjumpa satu scene umpama Neo (The Matrix) mengelak peluru secara slow motion, tetapi dalam versi Upin dan Ipin.
5. Yang paling penting, dalam fikiran anda akan sentiasa teringat dan terngiang-ngiang dialog-dialog lucu dari kesemua watak filem GENG walaupun telah 24 jam (atau lebih) anda habis menonton filem tersebut. Percayalah, fikiran anda akan asyik teringkatkan filem ini walaupun telah lama anda habis menonton. Worst case scenario, anda akan terasa untuk ingin menonton filem ini lagi sekali dan tidak lokek untuk menghabiskan sedikit prepaid anda untuk sms dan mempromosikan filem ini kepada kawan-kawan dan saudara mara anda. hehehe…

Ada sesuatu yang mengganggu ketenteraman Kampung Durian Runtuh. Penduduk kampung menyebarkan cerita tentang kewujudan suatu makhluk yang menggerunkan menjelang waktu malam, namun tiada siapa yang berani mencari kebenaran disebaliknya…

Sehinggalah Badrol dan Lim, serta rakan-rakan baru mereka terjerumus ke dalam misteri tersebut tanpa disengajakan. Saya takkan memberitahu maklumat yang berlebih-lebih dari sinopsis filem ini kerana jika saya berbuat begitu, ke’best‘an anda yang belum menonton filem ini nanti akan hilang.

Keupayaan dan kreativiti Les’ Copaque menghasilkan filem GENG memang menakjubkan. Kali ini saya setuju 100% dengan penajaan dari Kerajaan Malaysia, FINAS, dan lain-lain agensi. Disebabkan kualiti filem ini yang sangat membanggakan, saya tidak hairan kenapa Kerajaan Malaysia tanpa segan silu menayangkan Jata Negara Malaysia sebesar-besarnya pada awal dan penghujung filem. Alangkah bagusnya kalau Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) Malaysia turut mengeluarkan pekeliling menyuruh kakitangan awam seluruh Malaysia untuk menonton filem ini.

Filem dari produksi yang macam ni lah yang sepatutnya Kerajaan Malaysia atau FINAS bantu dari segi kewangan, dan bukannya filem-filem yang takde makna seperti sebelum-sebelum ini. Mungkin saya bukan pakar filem untuk mengatakan bahawa filem tajaan Kerajaan Malaysia atau FINAS sebelum-sebelum ini seperti Embun dan Paloh adalah filem yang takde makna, tetapi dari perspektif saya sebagai penonton biasa, nak kata filem tu mementingkan aspek seni semata-mata tidak, nak kata mementingkan aspek komersial pun tidak, nak kata filem tu mengajar mengenai sejarah negara lagi lah tidak, jiwa kita terasa kosong selepas menontonnya, ilmu pengetahuan tak bertambah, emosi tak berubah, yang ada hanya rasa menyampah sebab buang masa menonton filem yang takde faedah.

Oleh kerana ke’best‘an filem GENG telah melebihi expectation saya secara total, maka mulai hari ini, selama sebulan, blog TechTarik.net akan dipenuhi dengan banner filem ini dan post saya kali ini yang memberi rating 10 Bintang kepada filem GENG akan sentiasa berada di puncak blog ini selama sebulan!

Tahniah Les’ Copaque!!! Kerana buat pertama kalinya dalam hidup saya, saya boleh berbangga kerana Malaysia boleh menghasilkan filem animasi 3D setaraf Hollywood!

I’m so lucky because tonight I can view a ‘Penumbral Lunar Eclipse’ here in Malaysia. Yes, you might have no idea on what ‘Penumbral Lunar Eclipse’ means, just like me. Therefore, I did some so-called ‘research’ about it and found out that Penumbral Lunar Eclipse is a type of eclipse when the Moon passes trough a lighter portion of Earth’s shadow.

Let’s just hope that I will end up with a superpower after the eclipse ends (Remember HEROES?).

I stumbled upon this Hotlink Rewards Claycam from some advertisement yesterday. I was very impressed because the video of the claymoulder doing his/her job is streaming live. So go to the website today and request yours! No need any registration and it is free of charge!

I personally think that the reason behind the disappointing collection was the promotion. For me, the movie trailer that was released to be aired on TV was quite unimpressive and unattractive. I came to see the movie at the cinema not because I’m attracted by the promotion, but because of my personal interest with a quality movie made by Kabir Bhatia an his team.

Well, the least thing that SEPI can do now is to win big in FFM21. I hope so.

After pacai, I hope there will be more Malaysian celebrities to read my blog, and I wish someday everybody will read my blog. Who knows the likes of Tun Dr. Mahathir or Britney Spears or Song Hye-kyo or Alexis Bledel or Bea Alonzo will read this blog someday.

The unique visitors and traffic for TechTarik.net has also increased steadily. On June 2008, there are 525 unique visitors came to this blog and a month after that the figure was increased to 1761.

Hopefully TechTarik.net will have a better PageRank in the future and gain even more traffic.

That was strange, because as far as I concern I never post any Entrecard related content to this blog… EXCEPT Twitter. I remember that I do Twitt something about Entrecard on Twitter few days ago and I also integrate Twitter plugin to my blog sidebar so that my Twitt post will be displayed on my blog as well.

For example, yesterday when I tried to access myMetro online. Instead of supposedly displaying their main page, these advertisement came out:

After annoyingly clicked the close button, only then the real myMetro main page appeared. But the misery doesn’t ends there, because not long after the page finished loading, these appeared:

Same thing happened when I browsed Berita Harian Online:

Lastly, from Utusan Online. For me, this is the most annoying and ‘menyakitkan hati’ advertisement ever. It is a Nissan Slyphy advertisement. Why is it annoying? Because it is a video! AND it is auto-played! We are forced to watch the video and hear the shocking audio!

Yes, we can close the popping out advertisement and stop the auto playing video. But, internet is not as same as television. In television, viewers doesn’t give input, they just watch whatever output broadcasted by the tv channel. While on internet, users gives input and choose whatever they want to do or see or listen, and hate it so much when they are forced to do or see or listen to something. Think about it, make internet a better place.. wahaha.. I’m just kidding about the last sentence.. Sounds like Bono U2 for internet

As you can see, this blog is now running on Brancast theme.

It is not the same as the original braincast theme, I’ve made some modification on it to suit my taste. This theme is supposed to be a greenish looking theme, but I’ve decided to change it to a blueish looking theme. After modifying it for 3 weeks, here’s the result. I hope I can name this theme Blue Braincast or something else, but the theme owner might not allow it.

So what do you think? This theme looks great right? hehe..

I just upgraded my TechTarik.net blog to Wordpress version 2.6 today. I don’t upgrade my blog right away after the release of Wordpress 2.6 simply because I want to make sure that Wordpress 2.6 is stable enough and not conflicting with my installed plugins and theme.

After testing it for a few days, I found out that Wordpress 2.6 has so many enhancements that really impress me. Plus, the new theme that this blog is using now (Braincast) and all of my blog plugins are compatible with it.

(Edit: It seems like this theme got some problem when previewing unpublished post. hmm… I wonder…)

After watching the movie trailer on YouTube, I cannot resist the temptation. So I finally went to Kuching Star Cineplex last night to see Wanted. The movie should start at 12.50 AM, but after 12.50 AM we’re still waiting to enter the cinema hall. My friends and I finished the jumbo sized popcorn and the soft drink that I bought earlier and we’re still waiting outside the Hall 2 of the cinema (that shows how long we have waited!).

We’re entered the cinema hall not long after we finished our popcorn and drinks. So I thought the torture ends there, but hell no!! After we enter the cinema hall, the time is 1.00 AM, I expect the movie to start soon, but they showed other movie trailers instead, and another, and another, plus KFC advertisement, plus some more movie trailer… They showed us at least 10 movie trailers before the real movie (Wanted) screening!! What the hell??? To Kuching Star Cineplex, if I want to watch a movie trailers I’ll just watch it on YouTube or TV. I don’t want to spend 30 minutes before the movie start just to watch movie trailers! I don’t want a movie that should start at 12.50 AM to start at 1.30 AM just because of tonnes of movie trailers!

Enough with the Kuching Star Cineplex. Here’s my movie review for Wanted (2008) :
Wanted Exclusive Trailer

1. Great intros. A man jumped heroically from one building to another and killed every snipers on that other building while he’s in the air. You will see an introduction to a “Curving Shot” when that man killed one of the sniper with a curving shot.
2. Great stunt. From start to the end of this movie you will be fascinated with a mind blowing stunts that will always make you say – “Wow!”.
3. Cool weapons. Specially carved bullets and guns? How cool is that?
4. Angelina Jolie. Do I need to explain?
5. They got their wanted list from a sewing machine?? If that sewing machine is as cool looking as “Lord of The Rings” ring, I don’t mind. But that sewing machine looks like an ordinary sewing machine to me, too ordinary.
6. Too many illogical facts. I don’t like the storyline, and I don’t want to explain further to prevent spoilers.

So, what’s good for me are the great intros, great stunts, cool weapons and Angelina Jolie. The bad parts are the sewing machine and too many illogical parts.

Just 7 out of 10 stars for Wanted. Yep! I changed my mind.. I just increased my movie expectation benchmark right after seeing this Malaysia’s first 3D animated movie called “GENG: Pengembaraan Bermula“. So now I only rate Wanted just 6 out of 10 stars.

Wow.. I can’t help it.. TechTarik.net looks awesome with Braincast theme.

But I’ll not change this blog theme to Braincast yet until I finish my personal customization and “bug hunting expedition” with the Braincast theme so that it will be compatible with any kind of web browsers out there starts from Internet Explorer 6.

I’ve found some bugs with the theme when viewed in IE6, posted it on their support forum and within 24 hours they provide me with the fix. Very-very impressive..

I expect TechTarik.net will start using this theme by the end of this month (July 2008).

According to their announcement, it seems like CheDet.com was locked by the administrator of Bloggers.com. They suspected CheDet.com as a spam blog??? Are they kidding?? What kind of lame excuse was that? But I think the real reason were Blogger.com cannot afford to support high traffic generated from CheDet.com blog.

Now CheDet.com is using Movable Type as a blogging platform. Good luck Tun!!! And curse you Blogger.com!!!

Setelah menonton filem Sepi pada 26 Jun yang lepas, berani saya katakan bahawa filem ini adalah filem Malaysia terbaik yang pernah saya tonton. Tiga cerita hebat didalam satu filem membuatkan saya puas menonton (tapi rasa macam nak tengok lagi..). Tak rugi rasanya membayar tiket berharga RM8 di Metrowealth Riverside Cineplex, Kuching.

Pada permulaan filem ini anda akan tahu bagaimana tiga cerita yang berbeza ini dikaitkan dengan begitu sempurna. Lakonan Afdlin Shauki, Vanida Imran, Nasya Aziz, Eja, Riezman Khuzaimi, Tony Eusoff, Syed Hussein, Baizura Kahar, Pierre Andre dan semua pelakon tambahan teramatlah mantap. Respek betul saya dengan pelakon-pelakon termasuk penulis skrip dan pengarah filem ini. Ini kerana setiap elemen didalam filem ini dirasakan cukup ramuannya, tidak berlebih-lebih dan yang paling penting.. logik.

Saya bukanlah tak suka dengan filem Indonesia, tetapi dalam filem LOVE (remake filem Cinta versi Indonesia) watak Rama (Fauzi Baadilla) and Iin (Acha Septriasa) tak pasal-pasal bersajak/berpuisi dalam satu scene tu. Ini merupakan sesuatu yang sangat tidak logik dalam kehidupan seharian kita. Tetapi didalam filem Sepi penulis skrip sangat bijak mengatur logik antara sastera dan kehidupan seharian rakyat Malaysia. Ini kerana rakyat Malaysia, kalau bukan sebab pertandingan, jadi emcee majlis rasmi, meminang anak dara orang atau pementasan teater dan kalau dah terpaksa sangat, barulah nak berpuisi atau bersajak atau berpantun. Kalau anda boleh berpuisi, bersajak atau berpantun dalam pertuturan kehidupan seharian anda, sah! anda layak untuk menyertai rancangan Raja Lawak.

Kepada semua rakyat Malaysia yang mampu untuk menonton filem, tontonlah Sepi di pawagam. Kerana ianya umpama “sup ayam untuk jiwa anda” (chicken soup for your soul.. wahaha..).

Kepada Kabir Bhatia dan penerbit filem ini, tolonglah jangan buat remake filem ini dengan menggunakan pelakon-pelakon Indonesia seperti yang anda telah buat dengan filem Cinta. Yakinlah bahawa filem Sepi ini terlalu bagus untuk dibuat remake dan saya yakin bahawa anda akan mengalami masalah untuk mencari pelakon Indonesia yang sama hebat dan sama kecil dengan Afdlin Shauki.

Soundtrack filem ini juga sangat bertepatan dengan cerita dan catchy. Seingat saya antara lagu-lagu yang terdapat dalam filem ini adalah Diari Seorang lelaki (Pretty ugly), Aku Bukan untukmu (Zaf & Lah V.E.), Sepi (Yuni Shara) dan Kembang Perawan & Vocalizing (Gita Gutawa).

Bolehlah saya katakan bahawa saya telah mendapat beberapa pengajaran yang agak berguna melalui filem ini iaitu :-

• Jangan buang flyers merata-rata – bahaya!
• Jangan melintas jalan tanpa toleh kiri-kanan – bahaya!
• Jangan leka semasa driving - bahaya!
• Kahwin dengan orang yang anda cintai.
• Cari girlfriend yang boleh hadiahkan tayar kereta sekiranya tayar kereta anda pancit.
• Bercutilah dengan keluarga anda sementara hayat dikandung badan.
• Jogging guna kasut yang ada air-cond.
• Lupakan kisah pahit dan mulakan kehidupan baru.
• Jangan tegur perempuan yang bercakap sorang-sorang.

Dan yang paling utama… Cinta tak datang hanya sekali… Wahaha!! Sungguh jiwang aku hari ini…

My Prediction :

1. Filem ini akan mendapat anugerah filem terbaik dalam Festival Filem Malaysia yang akan datang.
2. Pelakon-pelakon dalam filem ini akan memenangi anugerah pelakon lelaki terbaik, pelakon wanita terbaik, pelakon pembantu lelaki terbaik, pelakon pembantu wanita terbaik, dan mungkin pelakon komedi terbaik(Nasha Aziz).

I recently bought a new (original) 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo for my Sony PSP. I bought it from Jeric Online Gadget Lelong store. I bought it to replace my corrupted and “fake” Sony Memory Stick which came together with a package when I bought my Sony PSP last February.

The fake Memory Stick only lasts for 4 months. I’ve tried to re-format and even low-level format it, but the bad sector still cannot be cleared. I’m so frustrated with that fake Memory Stick, there are tonnes of my game progress that I cannot retrieve from it.

For your information, the fake Memory Stick will show “MagicGate: Unknown” status in Sony PSP while the original one will show “MagicGate: Supported”.

I bought the original 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo for RM165 including RM10 shipping cost, but the fake 4GB Sony Memory Stick will cost me in around RM110. So I’m thinking why not spending an extra RM55 to get the original Memory Stick Pro Duo that has 5 years warranty rather than buying a fake one that might end up with bad sector after 4 months of usage.

In the end, I am very satisfied with my spending over this original Memory Stick, and I am going to rate the seller with a pretty good testimonial.

Fact Sheet :

1. The fake 4GB Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo are priced around RM100 and can be easily found on Lelong.com.my and eBay Malaysia.
2. The fake Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo has no warranty (it only lasts for 4 months in my case).
3. The original 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo price is RM155.
4. The original 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo has 5 years warranty (the product must be registered on their website).

This is due to the completion of our new networking facilities that covered almost whole campus building. Therefore, using that 2Mbps connection on the new network will be like we are using a motorcycle engine as a bus engine (Metaphorically Speaking ).

So today I run a speed test to “personally validate” whether the connection is really 4Mbps or not.

Malaysia Boleh! I’m so proud that somewhere in Malaysia (My Workplace!) has this kind of broadband speed. But the result is shockingly different when I use Kuala Lumpur Speed Test Server.

Hmm.. I don’t know what to say.. Is it because of Bandwidth Capping? Or is it because of the server itself?

I chat with the Exabytes support assistant and ask him why is my blog got that error message. Then he explained to me that that The Data Center Network that are hosting IP range 210.48.157.0/24 is encountering slow and intermittent network access. And their announcement about it has been posted on their Client Support Center here.

Mozilla Firefox said : “Database Error, Error establishing a database connection”.

Internet Explorer said : “HTTP 500 Internal Server Error, The website cannot display the page”.
